About Skyhook

A dynamic and mercurial musical unit composed of Mikael Tobias and Adam Jenkins. Playing guitar and bass respectively, the duo also wields an array of electronics, home-brew modifications and production savoir-faire to concoct a progressive, insightful and positive mix of old-school funk, house, and drum 'n bass with a modern compositional finesse that is rhythmically, harmonically and texturally experimental. All this while remaining respectful of a long tradition of improvisational and virtuosic standards.

Skyhook gets the dance floor bumpin' and offers up plenty of ear candy, pleasing both the booty-shaker and the philosopher in all of us.

Straddling the line between DJ and electro-jazz ensemble (dare we use the word 'fusion?'), Skyhook represents a new culture in modern dance music that is beginning to take flight -- one that carefully melds compositional direction with free improvisation; Eastern classical sonorities with the aggression of rock; and the introspection of minimalist repetition with the wild and chaotic textures of electro acoustic sound shaping.
