Jesse McCartney graced MuchMusic headquarters on Thursday, May 22nd for a special sit down interview and live performance during MuchOnDemand. New York born, Jesse, just recently turned 21 and has already accomplished a life time of achievements. He started his career acting in television and movies, including the soap opera All My Children; during this he joined the boy band Dream Street, as their youngest member and realized music was his calling. At fifteen Jesse began working on his career as a solo artist, both performing and writing music.

During Jesse’s interview, he told fans that he’s grown up and his music is a reflection of this growth as well as the personal experiences in his life.

Jesse’s latest album, ’Departure’ is his third solo released album and it’s already toping the charts, his first single Leavin’ has an R&B feel to it much like his other songs on the new album. During Jesse’s interview, he told fans that he’s grown up and his music is a reflection of this growth as well as the personal experiences in his life. He also mentioned it was very scary making the transition from pop to a more R&B and electronic sound. Not only is his latest release Leavin’ blowing up the charts, but he also co-wrote the #1 hit single ’Bleeding Love’ for Leona Lewis, which was the biggest selling UK single of 2007.

MuchMusic VJ Leah Miller brought up the rumored romance with Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day, but Jesse insisted that they’re "just friends." MuchMusic was filled with tons of young girls sporting T-shirts reading "Property of Jesse" and huge posters proclaiming their love for the young singer. While Jesse performed his smash hit, Leavin’, most of the audience sang along not missing one word.

All of this success at only 21! From the response of his performance and his newly released album ’Departure,’ I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of Jesse for years to come. Oh, and for all you female fans, Jesse did mention that he is currently single and enjoying the single life so there is still hope for that one lucky lady out there.
