Friday July 14th 2006. Detour Fridays with Special Guest Hatiras at Budo Liquid Theatre. 137 Peter Street. With DJ Aadil. $10 admission.

Detour Fridays is a weekly event at Budo Liquid Theatre that embraces the unconventional and the detour from normal weekend clubbing. Now with Juno award winning DJ/Producer Hatiras playing a guest spot at this weekly party, the Detour theme is appropriate. Hatiras is best known for his track, ?Spaced Invaders? that was released earlier this decade and is a true house music classic. Resident DJ Aadil is picking up steam in house music circles around the city, so the emerging DJ and the established DJ going back to back on July 14th is sure to be fun filled, unique, and exciting.

Friday July 14th 2006. Therapy Sessions with jojoflores and Quentin Harris at Sonic Nightclub. 270 Spadina Avenue. With Mat Chrysdale. $15 admission before midnight, $20 before 2am, $30 after 2am.

Quentin Harris has quickly emerged as a producer/DJ in the deep house music scene. With his remixes of Mariah Carey’s ?Don’t Forget About Us?, Leela James’ ?My Joy? and his production of hits like ?Let’s Be Young?, Harris’ productions have gained play from such artists as Chus and Ceballos, Danny Tenaglia, Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell, Roger Sanchez, Dimitri from Paris, Louie Vega, etc. Harris last played in Toronto, on a Wednesday in April, in an intimate venue, and the party is still being talked about in deep house circles. With Montreal’s jojoflores co-headlining this big event at Sonic, this is sure to be one of the better parties of the week. This party was made for a club like Sonic?or is it the other way around? We’ll see this Friday...

One of the forefront leaders of Chicago house, and responsible for some huge house anthems over the past 15 years, Green Velvet, or whatever other alias you want to call him, is poised to rock Footwork to its very core this Saturday night. Green Velvet is the DJ side of the Cajmere alter ego and was created to be the DJ and non vocal side of Cajmere’s projects. Whether it’s the oft repeated lyrics to ?La La Land? or ?Answering Machine?, most hardcore clubbers have sung along to the productions of Green Velvet over the years. With local support, from Greg Gow and Lee Osborne, this night certainly will be a busy and entertaining night.

Saturday July 15th 2006. James Zabiela at The Guvernment. 132 Queens Quay West. With Mark Oliver. $10 before 11pm, $15 after.

James Zabiela is known as a talented DJ both with his technical skills, and his ability to keep crowds dancing and entertained for hours on end. His sound is really hard to describe, as he seamlessly meshes from trance elements, to break beat sounds, deep house and techno. Zabiela is a DJ that goes with the flow. With the eternal Guvernment resident, and Toronto DJ legend, Mark Oliver setting the pace for the night, this night is sure to be a diverse mix of sounds, and of course, the stellar Guvernment lighting. Zabiela is a young DJ on the rise. A night out at Guvernment is sure to add to his growing legend?
