Held on Wednesday July 26th, at the Brant House in downtown Toronto, The Designer Event, in conjunction with Eyeful Interiors joined together to create an ’all in’ to end breast cancer.

Queen of Clubs stands for the fight, thus the featured items included golf packages, sports memorabilia and equipment.

Innovating and original , the term ’all in’ represents people from all walks of life coming together to help raise funds for breast cancer prevention, awareness and the determined fight to find a cure. It is also a play on words, incorporating the theme of poker, as cancer is a constant gamble. Hosted by CBC’s Elliotte Friedman from Hockey Night in Canada, the evening included intoxicating cocktails with harvest stations, silent auctions, celebrity poker tournaments, and live music.

The event integrated a poker theme as it was creatively presented in the silent auction. The auction items were separated into the categories of the four suits, hence the clever give-aways. Queen of Hearts is a symbol of love, therefore dinners and weekend getaways for two were the selected favours. Queen of Spades, also known as the ’warrior’ comprised of items such as gym membership cards, Pilates and yoga DVD’s, kickboxing lessons and fitness clothing.

Queen of Clubs stands for the fight, thus the featured items included golf packages, sports memorabilia and equipment. Lastly and perhaps the most cherished queen of them all is Diamonds. Jewellery, watches, purses and accessories were all the novelties up for bid. All net proceeds raised were donated directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Co-founder Monica Kransy put together an awe-inspiring evening as it entertained, educated and inspired about two hundred patrons.

Hype1, a sponsor for The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation supports and would like to emphasize the importance of public involvement and awareness. For many who have no inclination to what breast cancer is we will provide you with a brief description. Breast cancer happens when cells in the breast begin to grow out of control and can then invade nearby tissues or spread throughout the body.

Large collections of this out of control tissue are called tumors. Monica Kransy was witness to her mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2000. Happily and luckily, her mother remains alive and despite the hardships she is cancer-free. This motivated Monica to do something governing the cause, and this charitable event was just one of many to raise funds within our community.
