A breath of fresh air blew into Toronto last Monday as L’Oreal Fashion Week launched it’s Spring 2007 opening festivities at Muzik.
The night kicked off with the debut of L’Oreal Fashion Week’s first ever beauty runway show Fragmented Time, an exploration of the creative minds of Eddie Maleterre (Artistic Director of L’Oreal Fashion Week) and Eric Del Monaco (Lead Hair Artist for the event) which depicted the evolution of a Canadian woman and how she embraces beauty and fashion to enhance or transform her look. Fragmented Time explored the emerging beauty trends for next season while highlighting the return of past trends showcasing three main themes: Emergence, Innocence and Experience.
The Inspiration behind Emergence was winter intertwined with spring, luxuriant vegetation, unconstructed hair, careless and unprocessed. Models hit the runway in pairs, one featuring an extravagant beauty "runway" look and the other wearing a complementary "realway" look.
Emergence showcased Northbound Leather, Izzy Camilleri, Envers, Report Collection, De Majuscule and Marie Saint Pierre.
Innocence brought on an ultra-fem look, with doll-like makeup in sugar-coated colours. Models strutted down the runway with cotton candy and ribbons in their hair. Innocence showcased Andy The-Anh, Iris, Arthur, Nuts, Eliane, Perplex & Lola, Aqualara-swimwear & Musi Fur and Shan.
Experience, reflected confidence & sophistication; with intense eyes, matte skin and elegant hair. Designers showcased were Thien Le, Arthur Mendonca, Nadya Toto, Bodybag, Simon Chang, Mac & Jac, Waxman, and Ray W.
The night kicked off with the debut of L’Oreal Fashion Week’s first ever beauty runway show Fragmented Time, an exploration of the creative minds of Eddie Maleterre, Artistic Director of L’Oreal Fashion Week, and Eric Del Monaco...
The spectacular Grand Finale of Fragmented Time featured two gorgeous gowns by Justina McCaffrey and Pat McDonagh. Pat McDonagh’s gown was one of the most expensive to ever walk a Canadian catwalk, with a price tag of $175,000. She collaborated with Ama Swiss to create a truly unique white chiffon & tulle silk gown.

Following Fragmented Time, Marie Saint Pierre’s Spring 2007 line hit the runway.
Marie Saint Pierre has been a visionary on the Canadian fashion scene for more than 10 years. In 1986, fuelled by the dream of creating her fashion house, she launched her own label. Over the course of her career, Marie Saint Pierre has been the recipient of many prestigious fashion design awards.
For her Spring 2007 line, Marie Saint Pierre teamed up with fashion-doll phenomenon, Bratz, to create a collection inspired by childlike innocence. Models sashayed down the runway in sheer, deconstructed, lightweight fabrics featuring strategic detailing with the use of various textures and ruffles. Bratz dolls were intertwined in each models hair.
