Back in the 1930's, the Railway Club used to limit its membership to the railway workers who worked at the CPR Station (now the Seabus Terminal) just down Seymour Street. And like the old station, The Railway Club, too, has changed over time.

It's a venerable place: it was one of the three licences granted in the province immmediately after prohibition. And while the other two, The Artic Club and The Quadra Club, are now gone, the best still remains here for all to enjoy.

Three distinct rooms make up the second floor space at the corner of Seymour and Dunsmuir Streets. The first, an intimate room when you first enter, hosts music seven nights a week.

The corner room, set back from the front by the long bar is somewhat quieter and close to the dart boards. Here, lunches are served from 12 noon to 2:30 pm and on Friday and Saturday nights, you can order cocktail eats from 5 pm to 10 pm.

Finally, the back room, smaller than the first two rooms, houses a grand old early American Brunswick Bar. It makes a perfect setting for quiet conversation. This room is pure treasure in the heart of Vancouver.

BUT WAIT!!!

The Railway Club has now added an outside deck (off the front music room)!!! Now you can go outside for a smoke and still watch and hear the bands through the new windows and french doors.

If you do happen to drop by in the evening, it's likely that you'll be greeted by our main doorman, Stan, who has been noted in Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the best doorman on the West Coast. (See, even our doormen are famous!)

There is a ton of new things happening at The Rail all the time.
